What Insulated Glass Unit means

Insulated Glass Unit means a sealed glass unit made from two or more panes separated by a spacer and air or gas space to improve comfort and energy performance.

An insulated glass unit is a sealed assembly. If the seal fails, moisture can enter the space between panes and create fogging or mineral deposits that cannot simply be wiped off. In many cases, the remedy is to replace the glass unit rather than clean between panes. This is an important customer-education term for foggy windows and energy-performance discussions.

Customers usually encounter this term while choosing material, appearance, thickness, safety performance, or replacement options. Use this term when explaining material choices, safety requirements, appearance, lead time, and project cost.
